The management of Federal Medical Centre Abeakuta has concluded 30 surgeries out of the 70 free surgeries allocated to the institutions under the Rapid Result Initiative (RRI) of the Federal Government.According to the Ag. The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has called on the Senior Consultants in the Health sector to train younger ones with a view of closing the gaps that usually occurred as a result of exit of the senior consultants from the sector. Ebonyi – As part of the ongoing Federal Government’s Better Health for All (BH4A) programme, a Rapid Result Initiative (RRI), the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakalaki has completed 50 free surgeries to indigent patients in Ebonyi State.The Surgeries which were specifically Herniorraphy were performed at the Hospital premises in Abakalaki.The RRI is a free health programme of the President Muhammed Buhari led Administration targeted at providing care to indigent Nigerians.The criteria for eligibility is that the would-be patients must be poor and unable to pay for health care. In the first phase 10,150 surgeries are going on in different parts of the country at the Federal Tertiary Hospitals.
