FMC Abeakuta Concludes Free RRI Surgeries

The management of Federal Medical Centre Abeakuta has concluded 30 surgeries out of the 70 free surgeries allocated to the institutions under the Rapid Result Initiative (RRI) of the Federal Government.According to the Ag. Chief Medical Director Dr. Kehinde Isaac Hunyinbo, the hospital took the selection process and  the actual surgery to the local communities in the state.So far, Abekuta South and Ishara in Remo Local Government Area have been covered .InAbeokuta South-South, the surgeries were performed at the Ijaye State hospital, while that of Remo took place at Ishara General Hospital.All the personals were mobilized from the Federal Medical Centre and the surgeries were at no cost to the beneficiaries.The RRI surgery team would move to Ifo Local Government Area and other LGAs in the State.Apart from the surgeries, the team had so far conducted about 400 free screenings for Hepatitis B disease.The Indigent status of the patients were certified by the social workers in the facility.
